Report: Officer who killed Michael Brown may resign from Ferguson Police Department

  1. Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Missouri, police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, has no intention of returning to the Ferguson Police Department, people reportedly close to Wilson told the New York Times. But discussions between Wilson and city officials have reportedly tapered off with no resolution.
  2. City officials also told the Times that Wilson will be fired if he is indicted for the shooting.
  3. A grand jury has been meeting since August 20 to decide whether Wilson should face charges for killing Brown, a black 18-year-old who was unarmed during the August 9 shooting.
  4. Protesters have been taking to the streets of Ferguson on and off since August. One of their primary demands is an indictment for Wilson.
  5. Law enforcement, including local police and the FBI, are prepared for civil unrest following a grand jury decision, which is expected as early as this weekend.
