  1. Judy Huth has filed a lawsuit claiming that, when she was fifteen years old, Bill Cosby took her to the Playboy Mansion and sexually molested her.
  2. Huth is able to file the suit because of a California law that extends the statute of limitations in cases of childhood sexual abuse.
  3. Huth is the 17th woman to publicly accuse Cosby of sexual assault.

Judy Huth has come forward to claim that Cosby molested her in 1974, when she was fifteen years old. According to Huth’s lawsuit, she and a friend met Cosby on the set of a movie he was filming; he invited them to his tennis club the following weekend. There, he served them “multiple alcoholic drinks,” then took them to a party at the Playboy Mansion. Huth alleges that at the party, Cosby molested her by putting his hand down her pants, and then taking her hand and using it to “perform a sex act on himself.”

Huth was able to file the suit because of a special rule that California applies to lawsuits arising out of childhood sexual abuse. In most states, lawsuits must be filed within just a few years of the events that gave rise to them. However, in California, lawsuits arising out of childhood sexual abuse can be filed within three years of the date when the victim discovers that the sexual abuse has caused a psychological injury or illness. Huth’s suit alleges that it has been less than three years since she discovered that her psychological injuries were the result of Cosby’s actions.

Huth is the 17th woman to publicly accuse Cosby of sexual assault. She is the first one to claim that the assault took place while she was a minor, although others have claimed that he assaulted them when they were teenagers. Nine other anonymous accusers agreed to testify against Cosby in a previous lawsuit.
