Football fans across America will be watching the Seattle Seahawks play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday. A new chart from Twitter Data shows exactly where those football fans are on Twitter. Almost half of Seahawks 797,000 followers are from states other than their top two of Washington and California. The Patriots 1,180,00 Twitter followers are spread across six states, but heavily concentrated in their namesake New England region.

Twitter Data

So now that we know where people are talking about the Seahawks and Patriots, let’s look at who they’re talking about. Twitter Data compiled an interactive feature that shows the most mentioned Seahawks and Patriots players on Twitter throughout the entire 2014-2015 season.

The overall numbers show a fairly even split between the two teams. Quarterback Tom Brady was the most mentioned Patriots player every week of the season, with the exception of LeGarrette Blount in week 12. Brady does not have an official Twitter account.
