Netflix announces premiere dates for Marvel series Daredevil, several other shows

At its Wednesday morning press conference at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Netflix announced premiere dates for a whole bunch of its shows.

The first series in Netflix’s new deal with Marvel, about the blind superhero Daredevil, will launch Friday, April 10. The streaming service will be making four Marvel series about some of the publisher’s lower-profile superheroes, and the protagonists of all of them will come together, Avengers-style, in a fifth series.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the first new series from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock since the end of 30 Rock, which will debut Friday, March 6. It stars Ellie Kemper and involves a woman re-entering society after spending years in a doomsday cult.

The new comedy, which stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, will launch Friday, May 8.

Netflix announced last month that its political drama House of Cards will return for its third season on Friday, February 27.

The streaming service did not announce the return date for its women’s prison series Orange Is the New Black.

The streaming service also announced the renewal of Marco Polo for a 10-episode second season that will film later in the year.
