How to watch the Republican debate tonight

The political world is tremendously excited for the first presidential debate of the 2016 campaign season, which is tonight at 9 Eastern time. It will feature the 10 top GOP candidates in national polls, as determined by debate host Fox News, out of the 17-candidate field — Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and John Kasich. Here’s where to watch:
- If you are home and own a TV with cable: Change the channel to Fox News, and watch away.
- If you are somewhere with a TV with cable: Politely ask the person with custody of said television (your friend, your parent, a bar employee) to change the channel to Fox News for you. If that person protests — perhaps preferring to watch a sporting event or tonight’s new episode of Naked and Afraid — show him or her this video about how important presidential primary debates are, which will surely be convincing.
- If you have access to a cable account: You have two convenient options here. First, you could head to FoxNews.com and stream the debate online. Alternatively, you can download the Fox News app and watch the debate on your mobile device. However, in both cases you will need to enter a working username and password for a cable account.
- If you don’t care about watching the debate, and are fine with listening to it: Fox News has said it will air the debate on Fox News Radio, which you can listen to if you track down your local station, or if you stream it live on their website.
- If you don’t have access to a cable account or are somewhere sans TV and internet, and want to watch rather than listen to the debate: Sorry, you’re on your own for that one. :-( Can’t help you.
