Jeb Bush says his brother “kept us safe.” He’s wrong.

Defending his brother’s record as president at CNN’s Republican presidential debate, Jeb Bush had a simple answer: “He kept us safe.”

And the next morning, his campaign reiterated the point.

But it’s not true.

This was by far the worst loss of American life to terrorists in American history. And Bush’s presidency didn’t start on September 12. It started back in January.
