The two candidates will face off at 9 pm ET on Wednesday, October 19, at the University of Nevada Las Vegas for 90 minutes — no commercial breaks — in a debate moderated by Fox News anchor Chris Wallace. The debate will cover debt and entitlements, immigration, the economy, the Supreme Court, foreign hot spots, and “fitness to be president” — topics selected by Wallace.
It will be aired live on all major stations — CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, Univision, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, C-SPAN — and is also streaming live on NBC News’s YouTube page (video above).
The stakes are high for both candidates. After months of running on controversial positions on immigration, race relations, and foreign policy, Trump enters the third debate embroiled in multiple sexual assault allegations and trailing Clinton in the polls after two losing debates. And Wallace, who co-moderated the three Fox News Republican primary debates (two of which Trump attended), has asked the Republican nominee some tough questions, once even telling Trump that his proposals on how to close up the deficit “don’t add up.“ But as my colleague Andrew Prokop explained, it won’t be a cakewalk for Clinton either:
Fox viewers would very much like to see Clinton pressed on whether her email scandal, Benghazi, the Clinton Foundation, leaked information from John Podesta’s emails, her health, her “basket of deplorables” comment, and so on make her unfit to be president.
