Path just can’t catch a break.
Social App Path Hit With Spam Attack
The private social network was targeted by unnamed attackers.

The private social network announced on Wednesday that it had sustained an attack on its service that resulted in a wave of spam messages sent out to “a small number of users.”
The company didn’t specify how many people were affected by the attack, nor did it say anything about the source. A Path spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In a tweet, however, the company did say that Path users’ “personal data had not been compromised.”
The incident comes just days after Path closed its most recent round of venture funding, backed in part by controversial Indonesian venture firm Bakrie Global Group.
Earlier in 2013, Path took heat for allegedly spamming many of its users to invite their friends to the network, an apparent attempt to goose the network’s growth.
