Weiner is leaving to spend more time on the Money2020 payments conference he co-founded in 2012.

Weiner confirmed his departure in a brief interview with Re/code and said he left to spend more time on the payments conference he co-founded in 2012 and to help get a couple of new undisclosed ventures off the ground.
“For me, it’s just about getting back to my entrepreneurial roots,” he said.
Weiner joined Google in 2012 when it acquired TxVia, a heavily funded startup that created a payments processing platform for emerging payment types such as prepaid cards. At Google, he oversaw all relationships that Google Wallet had with third parties, such as banks and mobile phone operators.
He and his Money2020 partner Anil Aggarwal were part of TxVia’s founding management team. Aggarwal left Google shortly after the acquisition.
Today, much of the Google Wallet product is running on TxVia, including its Instant Buy mobile service and the new Google Wallet debit card.
Current Google employee Paul Reddick is now running business development for Google Wallet.
