Yesterday, Re/code broke the news of a significant reorganization of Google management, in which top Google exec Sundar Pichai was given the keys to much of the company by CEO and co-founder Larry Page.

With the keys to the fast car of tech, who the heck is this guy?
The well-liked Pichai now is the boss of research, search, maps, Google+, commerce and ad products and infrastructure and will continue to keep his existing responsibility for Android, Chrome and Google Apps. The six executives in charge of these product areas, all of whom previously reported directly to Page, will now report to Pichai.
Who the heck is this guy?
Some factoids: Pichai was born in 1972 in Chennai, India. Before he arrived at Google in 2004, he worked at Applied Materials and also at McKinsey & Co. and attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University and the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
He is, I can report, awfully diplomatic and polite and a definitive case of nice guys finishing first.
