Why one startup thinks it’s not in Google’s interest to bring search to mobile applications.

Quixey founder Tomer Kagan said it’s not an issue of technology for a giant, resource-rich player like Google. It’s an issue of philosophy.
“When search goes to mobile, you can’t make as much ad revenue,” Kagan said. “Google has made more money from transactional revenue” via services such as Google Flights and Google Shopping.
Google is too conflicted to serve third-party services like Yelp and TripAdvisor fairly, because it’s offering its own competing version of those services, Kagan said. That gives companies like his an opening.
“Why should you enable those challengers to be as rich as Google?” Kagan said of the bigger rival’s philosophy.
