Shooting at Florida State University: what we know

Myron May opened fire at Florida State University in Tallahassee shortly after midnight on Thursday, injuring three students before being shot and killed by police, according to Tallahassee Police. Here’s what we know so far.

What we know

Myron May was the gunman, according to Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo. May on November 20 allegedly shot and injured three male students at Florida State University’s Strozier Library, according to police.
One victim remains in critical condition at Tallahassee Memorial Health Care, the Washington Times reported. A second, Nathan Scott, is stable at the same hospital. A third was grazed by a bullet, but treated and released at the scene of the shooting.
May, the suspected gunman, was shot and killed by police, according to the Associated Press.

The shooting was an isolated incident, according to university officials.
May is a Florida State University graduate and attorney, police said at a press conference. He's from Ohio but moved to Florida at a young age and Texas after graduation.
DeLeo described May as a person in a state of personal crisis "struggling either psychologically or emotionally" who believed the government was targeting him. ABC News reported that at one point May's "ex-girlfriend called police saying he was acting erratically and she feared for his life."
About 300 to 400 students were at the library at the time of the shooting, police said at a press conference.
May allegedly used a .380 semi-automatic handgun.
Florida State University at around 12:30 a.m. on November 20 issued a warning of a "dangerous situation" on campus and advised students and staff to "Seek shelter immediately, away from doors and windows." By 4:15 a.m., the school issued an all-clear message.

May sent eight packages with unknown content to eight friends prior to the shooting, according to ABC News. Authorities have told the eight friends to be cautious.
