FCC Can’t Disclose Broadcaster Contracts in Comcast Deal for Now, Court Says

The FCC will be barred for now from allowing outside parties to see broadcaster contracts submitted in the government’s review of the Comcast*-Time Warner Cable and AT&T-DirecTV merger deals, a federal appeals court ruled Friday. Media companies are worried about sensitive programming contracts leaking to competitors and have fought an FCC effort to share them with some parties. The FCC halted its reviews of the deals after the dispute came up, but Comcast and other parties have urged the agency to continue its reviews as the appeals court considers the broadcasters’ lawsuit.
