The USGS Breeding Bird Survey collects data on, among other things, the locations of wild turkeys in the United States. Ralph McLaughlin from Trulia took that data and turned it into a county map of turkey population density in the United States. It also shows the names and locations of the various self-proclaimed “turkey capitals” in the country, three of which are actually named Turkey.

Interestingly, there are two different towns that bill themselves as the Turkey Capital of Wisconsin. Note that this does not include large-scale turkey breeding facilities.
