Yahoo and Carnegie Mellon struck a five-year, $10 million deal that will allow university researchers to access and experiment with the online giant’s data using a so-called “mobile toolkit.” The software will allow the research powerhouse to apply machine learning algorithms to vast amounts of real-time user information to better understand human behavior and predict online needs and intentions. The organizations said the Project InMind partnership is expected to produce new personalization techniques and improved user interfaces.
