Messaging Company Line to Expand Voice-Calling Feature to All Phones

Line, the popular Japanese mobile messaging application startup, announced on Wednesday it plans to expand its voice-calling options from the app in March. Currently, Line users are able to make voice calls to other Line users from within the app. The expansion would allow users to call non-Line users on their mobile and land lines from within the app. To begin with, the company will offer both pay-as-you-go plans and 30-day pre-paid plans for customers in Japan, the United States, Mexico, Spain, Thailand and the Philippines. WhatsApp announced similar plans for a VoIP service earlier this week.
