Re/code Media Is Coming: Hear From Roku’s Anthony Wood, “Silicon Valley” Creator Mike Judge and Smosh’s Ian and Anthony
Re/code’s first-ever event kicks off in a few weeks. It’s going to be a good one.

No problem! Come by our Code/Media event, which we’re hosting in Santa Monica on March 27.
This is the first live event the Re/code team, led by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, has produced this year. But if you’ve been to any of the shows we’ve put on in the past, then you’ll have a good idea of what we have in store for you: Onstage interviews with people who are shaking up tech and media — and plenty of time to talk to the folks sitting next to you, who are plenty interesting themselves.
Since we’re doing this one in Southern California, we figured it would be good to highlight guests who have a lot to say about what you’re going to be watching this year, both on big screens and on ones you can hold on your hand. It’s a fascinating, and fast-changing, topic, and we’ve got a pretty cool lineup:
Roku CEO Anthony Wood has sold more than eight million devices that help bring Web video to your TV, while competing against the likes of Apple and Google — and, soon, Amazon as well. Now he also wants to embed his software directly into your TVs, which means he’s also going to be competing against the likes of Samsung.
Mike Judge is the man who brought you classic comedies including “Beavis and Butt-Head,” “King of the Hill” and “Office Space.” Now he’s tackling the newest tech boom, via his “Silicon Valley,” which debuts on HBO next month.
A few years ago Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox were in high school. Now they’re YouTube royalty: Their Smosh videos have more than 25 million subscribers and have been seen more than four billion times. Equally important is that they’ve turned those views into a business — both on and off of YouTube.
