Lawrence Livermore Lab Names New Director

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory named Bill Goldstein as its new director on Thursday, first announcing the appointment on Twitter. Goldstein is a 29-year employee of the national security research institution in Livermore, Calif., previously serving as deputy director for science and technology. The announcement completes an at least five-month search to replace Parney Albright, who stepped down at the end of October “to pursue his broader interests and contributions to the U.S. national security enterprise.” He had served as director since December 2011. Goldstein will also act as president of Lawrence Livermore National Security.
