Facebook announced on Wednesday changes to its policy on users promoting the sale of guns and regulated items on the social network. In the future, pages that primarily promote the sale of firearms or other regulated goods on Facebook will be required to add language reminding users about compliance with local and federal laws. In some instances, no users under 18 will be allowed to view said promotional pages. Instagram will provide in-app “education” to those searching for the sale or promotion of guns on the service. However, Facebook will rely heavily on self-policing, with users notifying the company when they see a promotional gun post.
