Tesla Confirms Tesla Museum Donation

Great news for “Operation Let’s Build a Goddamn Tesla Museum.”

Matthew Inman/The Oatmeal

The Oatmeal illustrator Matthew Inman’s “Operation Let’s Build a Goddamn Tesla Museum” has secured some new funding from the CEO of the car company named for the inventor.

Inman concluded his wildly entertaining review of Tesla’s Model S Electric Cruisebeast by appealing to company founder Elon Musk to fund the remainder of the Tesla Museum project — $8 million. “You owe us nothing, and you’ve done nothing but good things in the name of Nikola Tesla,” he wrote. “But the fact remains: Tesla Motors, a company now worth billions, is using Nikola Tesla’s name, and they’re using his technology, and all we want in return is a little bit of help.”

Looks like Inman and his fellow Tesla devotees are going to get it. In an early morning tweet, Musk said he’d be happy to help Inman’s cause. A Tesla spokeswoman confirmed to Re/code that Musk has agreed to donate to the museum, though the exact amount is unclear at this point.
