Should everyone know how to code?

As promised, we’re posting the full videos of interviews from the recent Code Conference.

A new video of one of the many stellar speakers for the event, which took place two weeks ago in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., will go up every day. (You can see a compilation video of the speakers here.)

Today, we’re focusing on science, technology, engineering and math education, or STEM, which has been much discussed in Silicon Valley of late, especially since it is an arena the once-mighty United States has fallen behind in. Also of importance: Changes in the way STEM is taught to be more inclusive of women and others (a.k.a. not only white dudes).

Here’s a lively discussion that Walt Mossberg conducted with Maria Klawe, president of Harvey Mudd College, and Hadi Partovi, founder of Code.org, an online educational organization that wants more people to learn how to code.
