Global revenue for videogames on PCs and consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will shrink from $46.5 billion currently to $41 billion in 2019, Juniper Research forecast in a report released Monday night. However, the research firm said it expected software sales to remain “relatively healthy,” still accounting for a majority of industry revenue in five years’ time. The report also predicted growth in cloud gaming revenue to $1 billion by 2019, and the continued dominance of multiplayer online battle arena games, like Riot’s League of Legends and Valve’s Dota 2, on the PC.
