An app that gives hourly workers immediate access to their wages — in exchange for tips — has raised $4.1 million in funding from financial technology investor Ribbit Capital and early-stage investor Felicis Ventures. Activehours allows workers to access their pay from their smartphones without waiting two weeks for their paychecks to arrive. It joins a number of other apps with a similar focus, including LendUp, PayDay Loans Genie and Cash Corner.
