A week after Apple announced that its Mac business had grown by 18 percent year over year at a time when the overall market is contracting, the company updated its MacBook Pro with Retina display notebooks.
Apple Updates MacBook Pro With Retina Display
Faster and cheaper Mac notebooks, just in time for back-to-school shopping.


The new devices come with faster processors and twice the memory in entry-level configurations. Apple also lowered the entry price for its top-of-the-line 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display and trimmed $100 off the starting price for the 13-inch MacBook Pro (without a Retina display).
These devices, which are powered by the OS X Mavericks operating system, get a free upgrade to new OS X Yosemite this fall.
