FXX plans to show 24 hours of The Simpsons a week.

The first eight seasons of The Simpsons are brilliant television. Last week, FXX gifted America with the ability to watch all eight seasons (to say nothing of the other 17 seasons in the show’s run) of the erudite, fast-paced show in a row with its #EverySimpsonsEver marathon.

The marathon continues through 11:59 p.m. on September 1, with FXX showing absolutely nothing but The Simpsons. It would be easy to mourn the ending of the marathon, but it turns out that FXX will continue to show an absurd amount of Simpsons reruns, even after the marathon ends. And it should. The Simpsons marathon has set ratings records for the young channel.

The channel has Simpsons reruns scheduled Mondays from 6 p.m. to midnight, Tuesdays from 8 p.m. to midnight, Thursdays from 8 p.m. to midnight, Fridays from 6 p.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. That adds up to a full day of Simpsons re-runs per week. FXX will continue to show its own original programming — like The League and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia — but that programming will increasingly be on its own island, stranded in a sea of Simpsons.

FXX is basically The Simpsons channel now. We aren’t complaining.
