Sebastian Thrun’s Udacity Raises $35 Million for “Nanodegrees”

After evolving its online education model a bit, Udacity — which is led by the former Stanford and Google researcher Sebastian Thrun — has raised $35 million in a round led by the new firm Drive Capital. The startup now teaches people computing skills that will help them get jobs, awarding what it calls “nanodegrees” recognized by partner employers like Google, Facebook and AT&T.
