The U.S. government tightened sanctions on North Korea in retaliation for the devastating cyber attacks against Sony, the White House said Friday.

President Barack Obama issued an executive order authorizing the Treasury to impose additional sanctions on North Korea in response to “ongoing provocative, destabilizing, and repressive actions and policies, particularly its destructive and coercive cyber attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment,” a White House announcement said.
