Snapchat Revenue Boss Mike Randall Departs After Seven Months

Snapchat‘s revenue boss Mike Randall has left the company, seven months after joining the messaging startup.

Randall, who was hired away from Facebook in June 2014, departed last week.

“We thank Mike for his many contributions and we wish him well in the future,” a Snapchat spokesperson told Re/code. In a statement provided by the company, Randall said, “I wish the team all the best.”

Snapchat just recently started advertising for the first time in October, and ramped up its ad products over the Thanksgiving holiday.

After raising money at a $10 billion valuation earlier in the fall, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has been eager to prove that his company has the ability to generate real money. If he’s successful, that effort will set four-year-old Snapchat apart from other fast-growing Web companies that didn’t tackle revenue until much later in their corporate lifespans.

Snapchat has not decided on Randall’s replacement, according to people familiar with the matter.

Randall isn’t the first Snapchat executive to leave after a brief stay. The company also lost its VP of Engineering, Peter Magnusson, last summer after a six-month stint.

Randall left Facebook to join Snapchat about six months after Snapchat recruited Facebook executive Emily White, who had mostly recently been running Instagram’s business operations, as the company’s chief operating officer. Randall reported to White during his time at Snapchat.
