How far LGBT rights have come, in one tweet

The battle for LGBT rights has moved so quickly during the past few years that it’s sometimes easy to take the historical change — and rapid expansion of same-sex marriage rights — for granted.

This tweet from Media Matters’ Carlos Maza provides a glimpse of some of that history:

The front-page article on the left is about the defeat of a local gay rights law during the 1970s. The article on the right deals with the beginning of same-sex marriages in Florida, which began in Miami-Dade County on Monday and across the state on Tuesday.
