Apple said it began the New Year with nearly half a billion dollars in purchases through its App Store in the first week of January, setting a record for billings. In fact, January 1 marked the single biggest day for app and in-app purchases. These milestones continue the online store’s momentum from 2014, in which it generated more than $10 billion in revenue for developers of apps and games. The App Store, together with Apple’s iTunes, iBooks Store and AppleCare, accounted for about 10 percent of the company’s revenues in fiscal 2014.
