The Facebook founder got name-checked in the CNBC Republican candidates debate Wednesday, as Trump grudgingly admitted calling Florida Sen. Marco Rubio “Mark Zuckerberg’s personal senator” for promoting expanded use of the H-1B employment visas used by Silicon Valley companies.
Trump has argued H-1B visas displace Americans who otherwise might land high-paying tech jobs. He’s advocating restrictions in the program as part of an overhaul on immigration that includes deporting immigrants who lack legal status in the U.S. and walling off the border with Mexico.
FWD.us issued a statement Thursday, saying it utterly disagrees with Trump on immigration issues such as mass deportation. It avoided weighing in on the H-1B visas.
“It is astounding that some in a party that espouses smaller government wants one big enough to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants and millions of their U.S. citizen family members,” FWD.us President Todd Schulte said in a statement. “Mass deportation is absurd on its face and these policies are indefensible on human, economic and political grounds.”
