Apple Acknowledges Problem With iPad Pro

Apple has acknowledged consumers’ reports of problems with their iPad Pro tablets.

The company published a support document that instructs consumers on how to reset an iPad Pro if the tablet has become unresponsive and has a black screen. The company also said it is working on a fix.

Consumers used social media and discussion forums to complain about their iPad Pros going dark after charging and forcing them to perform a hard restart.

“At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was ‘dead.’ I couldn’t wake it up,” wrote one user, identified only as Darkfire.Shadows, on Apple’s support site. “I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead.”

The post generated more than 300 comments on Apple’s support site.

“Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating,” the company said in a statement.

The glitch mars the launch of the larger-screen tablet, which Apple hopes will revive sales of the iPad by increasing the device’s appeal for corporate users as well as for consumers. The iPad Pro, with its powerful processor and more spacious screen, is designed to run professional-grade software.

Our sister site, The Verge, reported that smaller developers are struggling to make the economics of the iPad Pro work.
