‘Re/code Decode’: Michael Moritz Says the New York Times Should Have Celebrated Amazon

Is Amazon really as harsh and difficult a place to work as claimed by a recent New York Times exposé?
If so, then great! That’s the word from longtime venture capitalist Michael Moritz in an interview with Kara Swisher on this week’s episode of the “Re/code Decode” podcast.
“I read the story in the New York Times, and if you had the choice between being a shareholder in the New York Times Company and Amazon, I know which one I would pick,” Moritz said on the show. “Amazon should be a company that the New York Times and others celebrate.”
He also discussed his new book “Leading,” co-authored with former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson; the qualities that make both company founders and soccer coaches great; and the dangers faced by a growing class of “subprime unicorns.” Later on in the show, The Verge’s Lauren Goode joined Kara to chew the fat about food delivery startups.
