Via a press release, Sony says it has extended Lynton’s contract, but didn’t provide other details.
Lynton’s presence has been a question mark since last year’s hacking attack; earlier this month the company announced that Amy Pascal, who had run Sony Pictures, would leave. Pascal later said she was “fired.”
Sony also announced that Tom Rothman, who has been running Sony Picture’s Tristar Productions, will get Pascal’s old job. Rothman is best-known in Hollywood for running Fox’s movie studio from 2000 through 2012.
