President Barack Obama spoke in Selma, Alabama, on Saturday. He was there to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. That was the day protesters in Selma were brutally beaten by police officers when they tried to march in support of voting rights. Obama discussed racial progress in America, called on Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act (which protests in Selma helped pass, but which was weakened by a 2013 Supreme Court ruling), and articulated his vision of what America is.
