Recode in the Media: Apple Watch Anticipation, Nasdaq 5000 and the Kleiner Trial

Recode writers on TV and the radio.

Another week with a jam-packed tech news cycle kept our writers and editors at Recode busy chatting on TV and radio.

On Friday, co-Executive Editor Kara Swisher appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Alley” to talk about Apple joining the Dow Jones Industrial Index, the forthcoming Apple Watch and Hillary Rodham Clinton’s coming under fire for using a private email account during her years as Secretary of State. Swisher interviewed Clinton last month.

Also Friday, Senior Editor Dawn Chmielewski addressed Apple’s joining the Dow as part of a panel discussion on CNBC’s “Closing Bell.”

Staying a bit longer on the Apple theme, Managing Editor for Reviews Lauren Goode talked with CNBC’s “Power Lunch” about the anticipation surrounding Monday’s launch of the Apple Watch.

If you’re old enough to remember the last time the Nasdaq Composite broke through the 5,000 mark in 2000, then you remember the crash that followed and so you’d be forgiven for thinking now might a good time to head for the nearest bunker. Managing Editor Edmund Lee remembered the last time the Nasdaq was this high with Jeremy Hobson on public radio’s “Here & Now.”

Finally, Senior Editor Liz Gannes talked with Kai Ryssdal of public radio’s “Marketplace” about what he called Silicon Valley’s Trial of the Century, concerning Ellen Pao’s gender discrimination lawsuit against the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, calling in directly from the courthouse.
