Square has launched an email marketing product aimed at helping brick and mortar businesses that use its payments service to send messages and promotions to their customers and track the resulting in-store sales. Square doesn’t turn over individual customer emails to the businesses — since Square is the one that collects them — but aggregates them into a handful of email groups based on how frequently the customer patronizes the business. Square plans to charge 10 cents per email, or $15 a month for unlimited emails plus a customer feedback tool that it previously tried to sell for $10 a month. The launch is the latest in a series of moves Square has made to diversify its revenue streams while providing a larger portfolio of products to the businesses that use Square.
