Re/code on the Air: Potential Deals for Salesforce and Yelp, Periscope Piracy and More!

Also the legacy of the late David Goldberg.

Another big week in tech news means that the writers here at Re/code were in strong demand on TV and the radio, talking about things like the potential for an acquisition of Salesforce.com and Yelp and the questionable streaming of the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight on Twitter’s Periscope, among other things.

Here’s Kara Swisher on CNBC talking first about the possibility that cloud software company Salesforce.com might be the target of an acquisition attempt, but probably not. She also talked about the potential of a sale of Yelp and FitBit’s IPO filing.

Here’s Walt Mossberg on CNBC, asking if the Apple iPhone needs a second screen. Answering his own question, he reviews the PopSlate, an add-on case that does exactly that.

Next up, Kurt Wagner talked about how some Periscope users streamed the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight from their phones as they watched on TV, and what the implications are for the Twitter-owned social video service, appearing both on NBC Nightly News and on CNBC.

Finally, Swisher was on NPR’s Here & Now to talk about the death of David Goldberg, the SurveyMonkey CEO and husband of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, whom she described as the “heart and soul of Silicon Valley.”
