Watch Amy Schumer and Tina Fey skewer Hollywood’s toxic combination of sexism and ageism

This week, the talented, gorgeous, graceful actress Maggie Gyllenhaal told the latest tale of ludicrous ageism in Hollywood — at 37 she was deemed “too old” to be the romantic interest of a 55-year-old male actor. Her story surprised almost no one and angered almost everyone.

And while this situation is not new, with each and every tale of this sexist, ageist reality women experience, we, like Gyllenhaal, are left not knowing whether to feel bad, get pissed, or just laugh it off.

Enter Amy Schumer, Tina Fey, Patricia Arquette, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus with a recent Inside Amy Schumer skit that brilliantly skewers the impossible squeeze created by the combination of ageism and the male gaze. Schumer runs into Fey, Arquette, and Louis-Dreyfus while they’re out to “celebrate” Louis-Dreyfus’s “last f***able day,” the day on which she is officially considered too old to be desirable and is thus released from the pressure to conform to male desires:
