Uber’s Latest App Update Helps Hearing-Impaired Drivers

Uber’s latest app update offers features for deaf and hard-of-hearing drivers. In addition to making a noise, the phone will flash when a new ride request comes in. Passengers won’t have the option to call hearing-impaired drivers — they’ll only be able to text them. These changes don’t address the issues that some members of the disability community are suing Uber for, like not training drivers how to pick up passengers with guide dogs and wheelchairs.
