Here’s Some Awesome New Footage From ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

A peek behind the scenes of the forthcoming film will make you wish it were December already.

Comic-Con, the annual bacchanal devoted to all things science fiction, is wrapping up this weekend in San Diego, and if there’s one thing you have to see, it’s this three minutes and 42 seconds of sweet behind-the-scenes footage from the forthcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

It’s the first fresh look at the film we’ve had since a teaser trailer appeared in April. Another trailer appeared late last year. Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film, the first since Disney bought the franchise from George Lucas, is due in December.

There are a lot of great interior shots as well as some footage depicting storm troopers in combat, including one wielding a real flamethrower, plus fleeting shots of Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca. In some ways it’s better than a trailer.

And if that isn’t enough “Star Wars” awesomeness for you, here’s a video of the hour-long “Star Wars” panel at Comic-Con with director Abrams, a bunch of the cast members including Adam Driver, plus later on “the three legends,” Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Ford. Hurry December.
