Hillary Clinton’s favorability among Americans is at its lowest since 2007

Hillary Clinton’s favorability is at its lowest point in years — according to a recent Gallup poll, her favorability among Americans (indeterminate of political affiliation) is at just 43 percent. This is the first time since late 2007 that her favorability rating has been so low, according to the polling organization.

The good news for Clinton is that while her favorability numbers aren’t great, she bests her Democratic rivals in prominence. The same Gallup poll found that while only 11 percent of respondents either didn’t know or didn’t have an opinion of Clinton, those numbers were much, much higher for other Democratic presidential contenders. So while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, according to Gallup, has seen his favorability double since April, nearly half of respondents either didn’t know or didn’t have an opinion on him. Sanders’s lack of recognition affects his favorability, which at only 24 percent is little more than half of Clinton’s.

In other words, the fact that so many either didn’t know or didn’t have an opinion on Sanders indicates that he still has a long way to go before he catches up to Hillary, despite her historically low favorability.
