Slack, the fast growing cloud-based workplace collaboration tool, has hired two new senior executives to oversee security and its technical architecture.
Slack Hires New Execs From Facebook and Palantir
The new hires will be in charge of security and tech infrastructure.
Geoff Belknap has been named chief security officer. Previously he was chief information security officer at Palantir Technologies, a position he held for five years. At Slack he’ll be handling security policy, compliance and regulatory issues, the company said.
The company also hired Keith Adams as its chief architect; he’ll be in charge of setting up the infrastructure that Slack runs on. His last job was at Facebook, where he co-founded the social network’s efforts devoted to research into artificial intelligence. Before that he was an early member of the engineering team at VMware.
The company also said it has promoted April Underwood to VP of product, putting her in charge of the group responsible for the Slack product itself and the platform it announced for third-party enhancements late last year.
Slack has about two million daily active users around the world, of which 570,000 are paid users. As of April, it had raised about $340 million from VC investors. Its most recent $160 million round valued the company at $2.8 billion.
