Apple gets a lot of patents, like nearly 2,000 last year in the U.S. alone. And they aren’t all new iPhones or other high-tech gear. It also gets patents for chips and other components, tools it uses to make its products and even the fixtures in its stores.

Speaking of the latter, one of its just-granted awards caught my eye. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company has been granted a design patent on a planter. Yep, the thing you put trees and bushes in.

The application, made in 2015, was awarded patent status on Monday. It appears to be the design Apple used inside its Regent Street store in London.
And lest you think coming up with a round planter design is easy, Apple’s patent lists 17 inventors, including Richard Howarth, the company’s head of industrial design.
