Verizon and its unionized workers have negotiated an end to the six-and-a-half-week strike of some 40,000 workers across the company. Though both sides are claiming victory, it looks like the union got the upper hand by quashing pension cuts and other Verizon proposals.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder said in a podcast interview that NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden's 2013 leak performed a "public service" by "raising the debate" about the extent of government surveillance and American citizenry's digital privacy.
