Watch: Bill Clinton’s DNC speech

After Hillary Clinton made history as the first woman to be nominated by a major party to run for president, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, made the case to the Democratic National Convention — and the country — that the former first lady, senator, and secretary of state is the person for the job.

Clinton told the story of their relationship alongside the story of both of their careers in law, politics, and advocacy.

“Hillary will make us stronger together,” Clinton said, closing out his 42-minute speech. “You know it because she spent a lifetime doing it. I hope you will do it. I hope you will elect her. Those of us who have more yesterdays than tomorrows tend to care more about our children and grandchildren. The reason you should elect her is that in the greatest country on Earth, we have always been about tomorrow. Your children and grandchildren will bless you forever if you do.”

Clinton’s speech capped off a star-studded night that contrasted greatly with the rowdy crowd during the convention’s first night on Monday.
