Watch: Seth Meyers gives Bernie-or-busters at the DNC a reality check

Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler have a tradition of ripping into the most ridiculous news stories with a segment called “Really!?“

But in an effort to rebut the Democratic National Convention’s vocal contingent of die-hard Bernie Sanders supporters who jeer at the sound of Hillary Clinton’s name, Meyers has changed his “Really!?” into a “Hey!”

“Hey! Pay attention. We are on the cusp of electing a racist demagogue and that never ends well. I don’t know what class you ditched to go to those Bernie rallies but I have a feeling it was history,” Meyers argued to the Bernie or Bust movement on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Meyers channeled a message similar to comedian Sarah Silverman’s, who, though a Sanders supporter during the primaries, told Bernie-or-busters they were being “ridiculous” while on stage at the convention.

“I know you are Bernie or Bust, but Bust won,” Meyers said on his show. “We don’t have time for this. Donald Trump is ahead in the polls. The house is on fire. Stop crying because we are not putting it out with your hose.”

Sanders himself has tried to make a similar point; he endorsed Clinton in early July and at the convention, repeatedly saying Trump should never be president.

“I know what you are going to say, ‘I don’t know anybody planning on voting for Trump,’” Meyers said. “But guess what, you know that crazy uncle you only see at Thanksgiving? This country is 48 percent crazy uncles.”

“Bernie did a great job,” Meyers said speaking directly to Bernie-or-busters. “You did a great job. His passion changed the Democratic Party. You should be proud of yourselves for a great campaign. But also you HAVE TO BE QUIET NOW. Now is the time to be quiet.”
