Stitch Fix CEO Katrina Lake and Bevel creator Tristan Walker are coming to Code Commerce in March

The one-night event is March 20 in Las Vegas during the Shoptalk conference.

A year ago, Recode launched a series of one-night events focused exclusively on the future of the e-commerce and payments industries.

We invited speakers like Jack Dorsey, Kate Hudson and Tony Hsieh onto our stage for our signature no-BS interviews. And we surrounded attendees with a group of their smartest peers for some solid food and drinks, and even better networking.

You told us you had a great time, which made my bosses very happy. It also convinced us we were onto something, and that we should plan to do more in the coming year.

So on Monday, March 20, Recode co-founder Kara Swisher and I are hosting our first Code Commerce event of 2017, which will take place at the Shoptalk conference in Las Vegas. And today we’re thrilled to announce two of three speakers you’ll hear from that night:

Katrina Lake is the founder and CEO of Stitch Fix, the online personal styling service that does an estimated $500 million-plus in revenue and could be an IPO candidate in the next year or two.

The five-year-old startup has been a hit with women who don’t have the time to shop for themselves or access to fashionable stores where they live. The key has been a mix of smart technology and a human touch to create a personalized, try-at-home experience that could be a model for years to come. And Stitch Fix is betting big that it can make the same model work for men, too.

Tristan Walker is the textbook case of an entrepreneur who set out to build a company to solve a problem he had experienced firsthand. As a guy who suffered from razor bumps, as many black men do, Walker created the Bevel razor and shaving kit to offer a solution not easily found in local drug stores. He also set out to build a modern brand and product that its target consumers would be proud to buy.

Bevel products are now sold in Target stores around the country as well as on Target.com and Amazon. Walker’s grand vision is to build Walker & Company Brands into a large consumer packaged goods company dedicated to health and beauty products for people of color — a demographic he believes the giants in the space have largely ignored. Along the way, he’s also determined to build a company that does a better job representing the diversity of this country than many Silicon Valley companies do.
