Trump unexpectedly postponed signing today’s cyber security executive order

The draft of the order didn’t mention Russia, either.

Trump was expected to sign an executive order this afternoon on cyber security, but that didn’t happen.

Trump had a meeting earlier today at the White House with cyber security experts, where it was anticipated he’d sign the new order. There was no explanation given for the postponement.

The Washington Post obtained a draft of Trump’s cyber security executive order, which had no mention of Russia, despite the fact that the CIA concluded that Russia ordered hackers to infiltrate servers associated with the Democratic party in order to sway the election in Trump’s favor.

Here’s a video clip of Trump’s cyber security meeting today:

Another dispatch from the White House press pool (tweeted from Politico Pro reporter Eric Geller) about the expected executive order today mentions that the office of management and budget will be tasked with managing the assessment of cyber security vulnerabilities across the executive branch, but that language was not part of the draft order obtained by the Washington Post.

The office of management and budget suffered a data breach in 2015, where 22.1 million people were affected by the hack. It was one of the worst cyber attacks in U.S. history.
