Meet Time Warner’s boss-to-be: John Stankey is coming to Code Media

HBO, Warner Bros, CNN — they’re all going to report to him. What’s his plan?

Time Warner is one of the biggest media companies in the world.

Meet the man who’s about to run it at Code Media in Huntington Beach, Calif., next February.

John Stankey is an AT&T veteran who most recently ran DirecTV for the telco giant. But once AT&T completes its $86 billion deal to buy Time Warner, Stankey will be the guy overseeing the company that runs HBO, Warner Bros., CNN, TNT and more.

That is: He’s effectively the replacement for outgoing Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes.

AT&T/Time Warner will pair a giant distributor with a giant content maker, at a time when both of those industries are undergoing enormous change. So, what’s Stankey’s plan? We’ll ask him ourselves at Code Media.

If you want insight into the way TV, movies, advertising, sports and consumer subscription businesses are evolving, Stankey is the man you want to hear from. And if you want to hear from him in person, come join us at Paséa Hotel and Spa early next year.
